Let’s serve in humility – Methodist Bishop

Right Reverend Kofi Asare Bediako, the Methodist Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese, has urged people in leadership positions to serve in humility and love.

“We are not to lord our positions on the people, but to rather serve them in humility”, he said, at the induction service for the newly-elected Diocesan Executives of the Youth Ministry Division (YMD) of the Methodist Church in Sunyani.

The executives are to mobilize and co-ordinate the activities of the youth in the church towards their spiritual and physical growth.

Rt Rev Asare-Bediako explained that leaders are chosen by God to serve the people, and that is why society looks up to its leaders for their welfare, and challenged the executives to serve the people from their heart and live a legacy worthy of emulation.

The Very Rev Dr Ishmael Arthur, a Lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), advised the executives to be disciplined, and control their passions.

Brother Richard Boahen, the Vice-Chairman of the Division said, members would also work to address the economic needs of the Youth in the Church.

He said the ministry was poised to complete the on-going youth centre project, which he said, would create employment opportunities for the young people in the Church at Asufufu, in the Sunyani Municipality.
