Let’s preach the truth to the people for votes – Delle

Tamale, Nov. 7, GNA – Dr Edmond Delle, National chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has called on politicians to stop the habit of using lies as the only means of convincing the electorate for winning political power.

He said, “as politicians, if we tell the people the truth and vote for us even during hardships is better than promising the electorate heaven on earth when in actual fact we cannot fulfil” adding that CPP would not preach lies but the truth to the people.

Dr Delle said this when he met with the leadership of the party in Tamale on Saturday to see how best the leadership could use their experience to help rebuild the party to win the December polls. Party executives from all the constituencies in the Northern Region and Parliamentary candidates attended the meeting.

Dr. Delle said people, who spoke the truth always have a free conscience and that, the CPP would not tell lies for the sake of winning political power and then fail to fulfil their promises.

He said the CPP was going to surprise Ghanaians come December 7, by winning the elections to indicate that the electorate were now mature enough to choose between truth and lies.

He appealed to members to eschew intimidation and work harder to ensure that the party wins power in December.

Mr Albert Atutiga, an elder of the party said CPP was a peaceful party full of ambitions and called on the electorate to support the party towards victory since the have the welfare of the poor at heart. He said the party was sure of winning more than 10 Parliamentary seats in the Northern Region adding, “The CPP is the next government to occupy the Castle, come January 2005.”
