The Most Reverend Professor Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Archbishop of the Internal Province of Ghana, has charged Ghanaians to commit to working together towards building the country on strong values of tolerance, respect and peace, as they joined the rest of the world to celebrate the birth of Christ.
In his Christmas greetings to the people, he counseled all to have a forgiving heart, to show good will and accept to live in unity and genuine reconciliation.
It must never be lost on them the true meaning of Christmas – the powerful message of “love, forgiveness, sharing, sacrifice, family life, faith and hope”. “There is the need for us to preach and live out these virtues, which are necessary ingredients for national development and nation building.”
The Most Rev Prof Yinkah Sarfo underlined the need to “fix Christ in our Christmas”, saying, the celebration should be more spiritual than physical.
“It is not only merry-making. It is not a mourning period. Spend not so much on gifts that thy soul is forgotten.”
He encouraged support and generosity to the poor and the vulnerable in the true spirit of the season.
He denounced the situation where some people marked the occasion in sin, immorality and drunkenness.
