Nyanpkala (N/R), June 23, GNA – Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, the Northern Regional Minister, has advised Ghanaian students studying abroad not to adulterate their culture but rather show the nation’s culture to the outside world. “As much as we try to learn other cultures in their countries, we should also try to let others learn our culture to ensure that our country develops through our culture”.
The minister was addressing students of the University for Development (UDS) at Nyankpala at a programme to introduce courses of Dallas University of US to UDS students. The two universities are exploring possible areas of collaboration to establish exchange education programme beneficial to their students and lecturers.
Alhaji Boniface said the only way the nation could catch up with the developed world was to learn from the advanced countries through exchange programmes. He appealed to students studying abroad not to abandon their academic
field to seek greener pastures but should work harder to excel. Ms Pamela Ravare-Jones, Executive Director of International Programmes, Dallas University, said the decision of Dallas to choose Ghana for exchange programmes was as a result of the performance of Ghanaian students in the university. She said as part of benefits in the exchange programme, UDS students applying to Dallas University for the MBA would not pay application fee of 50 dollars. Ms Ravare-Jones said admission was open to UDS students who had completed or are in their final year.
