Let’s maintain new Ridge Hospital well – Rawlings

Former President John Jerry Rawlings has urged workers of the newly inaugurated Accra Regional Hospital popularly known as Ridge Hospital to properly maintain the facility so it gives it a longer lifespan.

According to the former military leader, the refurbished hospital is a “good job” that Ghanaians must feel proud of.

“I guess we are all feeling quite proud. This is a good job and I hope we maintain it to give it a long lifespan. I am hoping that the operators – the doctors, the staff and the [patients] – will conduct themselves in a manner that will preserve the sanctity of this place. The hygienic condition especially is looking so beautiful, so new, and so clean.

“I just hope that we can maintain the level of cleanliness to several years from now,” Ex-President Rawlings told journalists during the inaugural ceremony Wednesday.

The reconstructed hospital was inaugurated by President Mahama on Wednesday.

The project was financed with a Government of Ghana mixed credit facility of US$250 million from Exim Bank and the HSBC Bank.

The new Ridge hospital is expected to provide the hospital with ultra-modern facilities and a 420-bed capacity to improve quality and expand access to health care delivery, particularly to its immediate catchment area.
