The Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, the Most Reverend Thomas Kwaku Mensah, has urged the church to provide the needed leadership to fight the growing immorality, sweeping across the nation and the sub-region. He said they should work hard to remain true to African values, keep the faith and raise their prophetic voice to be heard. Archbishop Mensah was addressing the opening session of the fifth biennial Supreme Subordinate Convention of the Knights of Saint John’s International in Ghana at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi. He said although the church did not have the power to change the course of governance it should do everything to protect the society against harmful influences of immoral and unethical practices and lifestyles. “The gospel must be lived without compromise,” he stressed The Catholic Archbishop said he was, particularly, not happy with the emerging homosexual culture and said it was important for the Government, Church and traditional rulers to act together to resist all public and private diplomacy and other approaches that support “this evil practice.” “We should not sit down and allow a minority, radical lobbyists to override traditions, cultures and faith.” He urged the Knights and Ladies to defend the faith, “be self-possessed in all circumstances, put up with hardship and perform the work of an evangelist.” He said the Church must offer hope to society. Justice Dennis Adjei, an Appeal’s Court Judge, urged Christians to lead upright lives and set good examples.
