Let’s follow the Americans and change Mahama – NPP urges Ghanaians

The New Patriotic Party is urging Ghanaians to follow in the step of the American people by voting out of government, the John Mahama-led National Democratic Party Congress, to bring about the change they are yearning for.

National Chairman of the party, Freddy Blay, told Onua FM Wednesday morning that Ghana should be part of the wind of change sweeping across the world which the United States is the latest to have its share.

“Americans needed change, they called for it and they got it. That shows that people were tired of the eight years rule of Obama and his administration that is why I am also calling on Ghanaians to reject NDC and John Mahama,” he told host of Yen Sempa, Nana Yaw Opare.

Mr Blay argued the issues that informed the decision of the American people are not different from that of the Ghanaian.

He mentioned issues such as hardship under the current government, economic breakdown, joblessness and unstable power supply as some of the major issues confronting the Ghanaian electorate.

“Back home in Ghana, government keeps saying he is putting the people first and doing infrastructure but if there are no jobs to do, no money in people’s pocket and parents don’t have money to pay their wards’ fees, what has become of the schools that you build in the bush. Change must come and Nana will save Ghana” he concluded.

An NPP government under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, he said, will “make the country work again.” Meanwhile, Mr Blay says he is not in favour of the US President-elect, Donald Trump’s policies such as his stance against Muslims, describing it as myopic as well as his decision to renegotiate deals sign by the Obama administration with American Allies.

For him, should those policies be implemented to the letter, America soon falling out with its closest allies, which he said could have dire consequences on that country’s economy.

“I believe he has won based on human-centered messages he preached but in the same way, I disagree with Donald on some dangerous policies he wishes to implement,” Mr Blay said.
