Let’s do more to instill in the youth moral discipline

Tanoso, (Ash), Aug 25, GNA – Teachers have been urged to do more to help young people to imbibe the values of integrity and hard work and also fear God.

Mr Mark Adatekey, Assistant Headmaster of the Dadiese Agricultural Senior High School (SHS), said it was by so doing that they would grow into responsible adults.

He was addressing the second national conference of the Christian Teachers Worldwide Outreach, a Non-Governmental Organization, (NGO) in Kumasi.

“The Christian Teacher – A call to responsible, spiritual leader in the school,” was the theme.

They delegates are discussing ways to renew and strengthen their faith and to provide the right leadership to improve the school environment.

Mr Adatekey said the pursuit of academic work must go hand in hand with sound moral training.

It is important for teachers to set good examples for the children they teach.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Mr Joseph Kingsley Onyinah, asked teachers to be disciplined and to show more passion for the job they are doing.

They should help the pupils and students to realize their God-given talents.

The CTWO National Director, the Reverend Dr F.W.K. Duodu, admonished Christian teachers to be concerned not only with the academic progress of their students, but their spiritual upliftment.

He said as teachers they have vital roles in shaping the destiny of children, especially, those under their care.

Rev. Dr Brew Riverson, a retired educationist, said the society was looking up to Christians for leadership “in these difficult times.”
