Let’s continue to peacefully co-exist – Imam

The Municipal Chief Imam of Asokore-Mampong, Mallam Usman Said, has urged Muslims and Christians to continue showing good understanding and religious tolerance to sustain the nation on the path of peace.

They should avoid bigoted attitudes and hold together to bring calm and progress to the society.

He was speaking at a community meeting held to say special prayers for the nation’s development at Asante-Mampong.

The event marked the end of the three-day celebration of the Eid ul-Fitr festival in the municipality and it was attended by chiefs, Muslim leaders, members of the unit committees, assembly members and youth groups.

Mallam Said discouraged young people from acts of indiscipline, cruelty and criminality.

The expectation was that as Muslim youth, they would be more responsible in their conduct to project a positive image of Islam.

Nana Twum Mensah Appau II, Akwamuhene of Asokore-Mampong, said it was important to uphold “our common humanity” and do away with conflicts.

He said development could only take place where there was peace, unity and goodwill among the people and urged Muslim parents to make sure that they enroll their children in school to provide them with the opportunity to pursue academic careers.

Alhaji Ali Musah Zingi, Chairman of the Asokore-Mampong Muslim Association, organizers of the programme, said their goal was to promote development.
