The founder and the leader of the Democratic Freedom Party Dr. Yao Obed Asamoah has reiterated the need for political leaders to desist from politics of acrimonies and vilifications to ensure peaceful elections in 2008
According to the DFP Founder, politics of insults, character assassination, violence and thuggery should be relegated to the background in our modern democratic dispensation.
Dr Asamoah appealed to the electorates to accommodate dissenting views during the campaign towards Election 2008. He advised youth to avoid any acts that would mar the peace and stability prevailing in the country.
Amidst cheers and shouts at the Techimanhene’s Palace, Dr. Asamoah who was there to formerly introduce his party to the Traditional Council mentioned Agricultural Revolution, Unemployment drive and Chieftaincy issues as his main three priorities for the nation.
Dr. Obed Asamoah therefore urged the electorates to vote massively for the DFP adding that DFP has come to alleviate hardship from ordinary Ghanaians.
The flag bearer of the break-away party from NDC Emmanuel Ansah Antwi noted that, both NPP and NDC have failed the nation by neglecting farmers for a very long time. He observed that, agriculture employs about 70% of people but previous government’s policies do not seems to address the problems.
On his part, Kontihene of Techiman Traditional Council Nana Opoku Abankwa appealed to the political leaders to be tolerant in propagating their messages. Nana Opoku Abankwah advised supporters of political parties to avoid provocation and insults during electioneering campaigns leading to the 2008 Election adding that such behaviour could negatively affect the country’s infant democracy
Among Dr. Asamoah’s entourage were Mr. Bede Ziedeng, (Acting General Secretary), Mr. Amo (Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman), Franklina Asamoah (Women Organizer), Francis Esiamah (Second Vice Chairperson) and other party executives.
