Sunyani, May 5, GNA – Professor Gyan-Baffour, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, at the weekend advised the New Patriotic Party’s national, regional and Constituency executives to avoid complacency and work hard to win landslide victory in the December election.
He urged the party faithful, especially the youth to redouble efforts and mapped out strategies that would help the NPP to secure more votes in the polls.
The Deputy Minister said this at a forum in Sunyani organized by the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the Party at the Sunyani Polytechnic.
The forum provided a platform for the newly elected parliamentary candidates of the party in Brong Ahafo to introduce themselves. It was under the theme: “The Prospects of TESCON in Election 2008”. Prof. Gyan-Baffour, who is Member of Parliament for Wenchi Constituency, said this year’s elections would be crucial to the party which called for a massive campaign to ensure a memorable victory. He expressed regret that most people, particularly the aged were unaware of the numerous achievements of the NPP government and noted that the youth were the best persons to propagate the achievements. Mr Gyan-Baffour urged the electorate to vote for candidates who would promote peace and development in their areas, saying the NPP had dignified persons determined to promote that. Mr Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Regional Minister appealed to the electorate to be abreast with the NPP Government’s policies and achievements so that they could woo more people to help win more parliamentary seats in the region. Mr Emmanuel Tweneboah Koduah, President of the TESCON at the Polytechnic, said members were ready for the task ahead and appealed to the party hierarchy to provide the needed support and motivation to the students in the electioneering campaign. 5 May 08
