Let’s accept to share in the cost of education

Kumasi, Aug. 16, GNA – A Deputy Director at the Kumasi Metropolitan Education Office, Mr. Joseph Kwasi Adiyiah, has underlined the need for all stakeholders to accept to share in the cost of quality education delivery.

He said since education is the bedrock for both individual and national development, its financing should not be left to the government alone to bear.

He said there is the need for especially parents and guardians to live up to their responsibilities to the school children by making sure that they provide them with all the basic needs.

Mr. Adiyiah was addressing the 10th anniversary celebration and speech and prize-giving day of the Desktop School Complex at Mpatasie in Kumasi.

“The need for education” was the theme for the event.

He said: “it is important to remind ourselves that the best legacy we could think of for our children is education.”

The Deputy Education Director asked the pupils and students to also recognize that they have some responsibility for their education.

He said as the government, parents and other stakeholders worked hard to create the right environment for teaching and learning in the schools, they should do their part of the bargain by keeping to their books and keep away from acts of indiscipline.

Mr. Edward Dapaah, the Director of the School, said their goal is to help the children to achieve academic excellence.

He appealed to the government to give the necessary support and encouragement to the private schools given the critical role they are playing in the promotion of the country’s education.
