Let us make 2013 a year of peace and hard work – Nana Out

The Mawerehen of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Nana Kobena Abiw Otu II, has commended Ghanaians for the peaceful manner they conducted the 2012 general election.

He said the peaceful manner the elections were held had confirmed Ghana’s credential as the “beacon of Africa’s democracy.”

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at his palace at Gomoa Pomadze, near Winneba, Nana Kobena Abiw Otu appealed to Ghanaians to make the peace which guided the elections to permeate their activities throughout the year.

“Let us make 2013 a year of peace, prosperity and hard work,” he said reminding the citizenry that without peace no family could progress let alone the nation.

Nana Kobena Abiw Out appealed to Ghanaians to eschew laziness and work hard to develop themselves, their families and the nation at large.

He expressed concern about the way Ghanaians spend huge sums of money on funerals at the expense of the education of their children and urged them to reverse the trend if they want their families and the nation to progress.

He said if parents did not pay serious attention to the education of their children, it would not only affect their development but that of their parents and the nation as a whole.

“Now society wants a well-educated person to be installed as a chief or a queen,” he said and added that that enjoined parents and the society to ensure that education was given prominence.
