The Omanhen of Gomoa Akyempim, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, has appealed to Ghanaians to let peace prevail after the funeral of the late President John Evans Atta Mills.
He said pronouncements from a section of the family of the late President and the public did not augur well for peace.
Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Apam on Tuesday, said nothing must be done to erase the excellent work done by the government and the funeral planning committee in organising a befitting burial which had given credit to the country.
“Foreign dignitaries who attended the funeral hold the country in high esteem because of the excellent funeral held for Professor Mills,” he said.
Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea advised Ghanaians to remove suspicion from the cause of the death of the late President.
“Nothing can be done to bring him back to life,” he said, and added that they must allow the late President to rest in peace.
He urged Ghanaians to pray to the Almighty God to grant him eternal rest instead of accusations and counter accusations about the cause of his death.
The Omanhen said what was important for Ghanaians to do was for them to adopt the departed leader’s legacy of selflessness, humility, simplicity and time consciousness to accelerate the development of the nation.
