Let the Kumasi Peace Accord Work – Chief

The Omanhen of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea II, has called on Ghanaians to make the peace accord signed in Kumasi by the presidential candidates work.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Apam, Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea said Ghanaians thought the Kumasi Peace Accord would set their hearts at peace about electoral violence unfortunately pronouncements on the airwaves seemed to prove that the peace accord had not allayed the fears of Ghanaians.

“We cannot be preaching peace when we harbour evil”, he said and appealed to all Ghanaians including politicians and radio presenters to be ambassadors of peace.

“It’s only Satan who does not need peace”, he said. The chief appealed to the people of Gomoa to abide by the electoral rules in order not to fall foul of the law.

Obrifo Ahunako Ahor Ankobea appealed to Ghanaians to guard the excellent record the nation had chalked in democracy by helping to make the election free, fair, transparent and peaceful.
