Let school feeding programme be devoid of partisan politics

Obuasi, March 24, GNA – Communities implementing the School Feeding Programme have been advised against introducing partisan politics into the scheme to undermine its usefulness. Mr Robert Dwomoh Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinator of the Programme, who made the call, stressed “the politics of NPP and NDC should not be brought into this school feeding programme to endanger such laudable idea”. He was speaking at the inauguration of the School Implementation Committee (SIC), for the feeding programme at separate functions at Mamiriwa, Apitikooko and Sanso, all in the Obuasi Municipality. Mr. Mensah warned against stealing of food items meant for the programme and encouraged the chiefs and opinion leaders to monitor the programme. He appealed to parents to take advantage of the scheme and send their children to school. Mr Joseph Mills, the Obuasi Municipal Planning Officer, expressed hope that the programme would help improve school enrolment in the area. The assembly member for Sanso in the municipality, Mr Benjamin Annan commended President John Evans Atta Mills led government for continuing with the programme adding “I have come to accept that Ghana is now moving forward”. Mr Annan said if previous government had continued with good programmes of their predecessors, most infrastructural projects would not have been abandoned. Nana Afiamoah Kotoku Bawuah I, chief of Sanso, urged members of the committee to ensure the success of the ptogramme.
