Let MPs take their share of DACF directly from administrator

Accra, March 16, GNA- Alhaji Bukari Sumani, Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North, has called on the House to give the Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund, the power to be the sole disburser of the MPs share of the Fund.

The member said if the House approves his proposal, District Chief Executives (DCE) would no longer have access to their share and deliberately delay its disbursement due to power play. Alhaji Sumani, Member, who was speaking for the approval of a sum of 962 million cedis for the Services of the District Assembly Common fund Administrator, said,” The Administrator is an efficient man with an efficient staff. I think he can handle us better”.

He said most MPs and DCEs see each other as political rivals who must struggle to outwit each other all the time.

He praised the Administrator for working hard and professionally in the management and disbursement of the Fund.

Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, Minority Deputy Chief Whip, said, “I commend the Administrator for a good work done so far. More grease to his elbow” Mr Kwadwo Baah Wiredu, Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, said, “because of him, we have the best formula for the disbursement of the common fund so far”.
