Bolgatanga (U/E), Nov. 21, GNA – The Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama has asked Ghanaians to give the New Patriotic Party (NPP) a landslide victory on December 7, to save the money that would otherwise be used to conduct a presidential round off.
He said that money should rather be saved and invested in development projects to better the lot of Ghanaians. Vice President Mahama was addressing taxi drivers and members of the “One-Touch” Club at Bolgatanga as part of his campaign-tour to the Upper East Region.
He expressed gratitude to the drivers for their unflinching support for the NPP, saying “when the going was tough for the Party in 2000 Election you came out strongly to assist the Party and its supporters in their campaign and we will never forget this gesture”.
The Vice President tasked them to join hands with the “One-Touch” Club to undertake out-reach programmes to market the NPP’s achievements and vision for its second term in office in order to win more votes for the Party.
“We have a performance record in education, health, agriculture, good governance, infrastructure, water and sanitation, energy and indeed every sector that can match that of any government given the lame economy we inherited and the time we have spent in office” he said. “Most Ghanaians are already appreciative of what we have done but some political rivals are bent on misrepresenting facts and relying on lies to win power so let’s be up and doing to make the truth stand-out.”
He also addressed the Muslim Community after praying with them at the Bolgatanga Central Mosque and advised them to be responsible citizens and play their role peacefully to make the NPP a first-round winner in the December polls.
The Vice President received a rousing welcome from Party supporters in Bolgatanga on return from Tamale on Friday, where he had a two-day respite.
The supporters lined some of the streets to cheer him, while others followed him around the Municipality on foot, in taxicabs, bicycles, motorcycles and buses.
