Let Islam unite us as Muslims – Bawumia

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reiterated the call on Muslims to let Islam unite rather than divide them for the common good of the religion.

To this end, he said, Muslims must put aside their political affiliations and forge ahead in unity.

Dr Bawumia made the call at an “Adua” prayer organized at his residence at Kanda at the weekend, to thank Allah for granting him travelling mercies during this year’s Hajj to the Holy City of Mecca.

The “Adua” prayer was led by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu.

The NPP Vice Presidential Candidate commended Ghanaian Muslims for the united manner in which they undertook the Hajj, and was optimistic that they would use future pilgrimages to fight for the common good of their religion.

“I am proud as any Muslim who performed the Hajj,” Dr Bawumia stated.

He thanked Allah for the life of the National Chief Imam, and urged Muslims to pray for long life for their spiritual leader to guide them.

On the stampede during the Hajj, Dr Bawumia asked Muslims to pray for speedy recovery for those who got injured, and hoped those still missing would be found.

He further asked Muslims to pray for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives during the incident.

Sheikh Sharabutu used the occasion to repeat the call on Muslims to co-exist peacefully with their neighbours at all times.

The National Chief Imam prayed for peace and stability in the country.

Mr Freddie Blay, First National Vice Chairman of the NPP, was among dignitaries present at the function.
