Kumasi, Dec 28, GNA – The Reverend George S. Mallet, Principal of the Ghana Baptist Theological Seminary, has called on Ghanaians to let the coming year be a historic one by harmoniously moving the country’s democratic process forward.
He said: “As a country, we must move our democracy further on the ladder by not letting next year’s elections divide us but instead unite us to achieve our socio-economic and developmental goals”. Rev. Mallet made the call at the third annual joint celebration service of the Trinity Baptist Family Churches at Patase in Kumasi on Sunday.
The joint celebration service had as its theme, “Trusting God’s Promises for Growth and Development”.
Rev. Mallet noted: “for the past three years, Ghanaians had wasted their time and resources putting out the fires that were generated during the last elections. The next elections should not see us in such a manner again but rather see us uniting and forging ahead”.
He called on the Electoral Commission to continue to work independently to ensure free and fair election.
The Rev Akwasi Addo Domfeh, Head Pastor of the Trinity Baptist Church, noted that national security did not depend on the quality of servicemen and weapons but on the good behaviour and attitude of Ghanaians towards the maintenance of peace and order.
He said due to the negative attitude and behaviour of some individuals huge sums of money that could have been used for development had to be channelled into ensuring peace and stability.
Rev Domfeh said all efforts should be geared towards the exploitation of human and natural resources for the effective development of the country.
He urged Ghanaians to work hard in the coming years so as to move the country forward economically.
