Lesedi Foundation, a non-governmental organisation in collaboration with Steven Adusei Photography, has thrilled the inmates of Chosen Rehab Centre in Accra by organising a programme dubbed: ‘The One Portrait (TOP) for them.”
The TOP programme involves the selection of needy individuals who are given the opportunity to be transformed in their looks through a special make-up. Pictures are taken before and after the special make-up to show a contrast of what they look like and what they could become. They are then counselled by professional counsellors.
Inmates of the Chosen Rehab Centre who benefitted from the TOP programme were given the special make-up by Sadion FX and the I Sparkle Solutions, as well as a GTP donated fabrics sewed and designed by Yaagye Exclusives, Franxter Fashions, Naana Clothing and J’Mako Fashions.
Medical personnel from the New Crystal Health Services also provided free health screening for the inmates, whilst Ernest Chemists provided free medication, as well as the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Health Directorate that provided HIV and Hepatitis B kits.
Apart from the food, free mineral water and soft drinks provided by Voltic Ghana Limited, the Foundation also set up a boutique called J’Boutique where inmates picked clothing and other household items for free. Mrs Josephine Ami-Narh, Lead Organiser of Lesedi Foundation said, the aim of the programme was to help the inmates to believe in their capabilities and guide them towards understanding their unique identity and purpose in life.
She gave the assurance that; the Foundation would continue to provide such innovative programmes in order to transform lives, especially the vulnerable in the society. Evangelist Lord Kenyah, a former hip life artiste, who joined a team of professional counsellors to counsel the inmates used his life story to encourage them to make the right decision, by desisting from drugs, alcohol, prostitution and other nefarious activities.
He urged the youth to fear God, as that is the only way they could desist from engaging in bad practices. Bishop James Ofori-Atta of Action Chapel International, asked the inmates to live a good life after graduating from the rehab centre. The inmates commended Lesedi Foundation and its sponsors including the Kenzo’s Place for organising the programme.
