Legon students continue examinations

Accra, April 30, GNA – Students of the University of Ghana, Legon are continuing with their examinations on Monday after the weekend incident in which some examination centres were smeared with human excreta, that nearly disrupted this year’s programme.

On Saturday morning at the new “N” Block, the Central Cafeteria and the Jones Quartey Building Complex the students were welcomed with the scent of putrefied and nauseating stench of human excreta at the various examination centres on the Legon campus.

When GNA visited these examination centres, it was discovered that at the Central Cafeteria the entire floor and the doors in front of the building were smeared or painted with human faeces. However, the culprits could not gain access into the Central Cafeteria Examination Hall.

At the new “N” Block, the entire floor of “N1″Examination Room had been totally filled with faeces while the tables and the blackboards were also smeared with the human excreta. At the Jones Quartey Building complex, three of the examinations rooms 14, 22 and 23 had human faeces smeared on the floor; the long benches and tables and the main entrances.

According to the Registrar, Mr Tedy A. Konu, the University Administration was making sure that students wrote their examinations. He said students should ignore any notice postponing the Examinations that had not been signed by the Registrar, adding that the Authorities would not allow any group of students to disrupt the Examinations.
