Legon Hospital launches TB programme

Accra, May 5,GNA – The University of Ghana Hospital at Legon on Wednesday launched its Tuberculosis (TB) Control programme to support the National TB Control and to improve accessibility.

Dr Gloria Ansa, the University Hospital’s Coordinator of the Programme, called on stakeholders and institutions involved in the programme to intensify their efforts to assist in the control and treatment of tuberculosis in view of its resurgence alongside the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

She said, the Hospital was currently working with nine patients on short course therapy, while patients in the continuation phase come for drugs weekly.

Dr Ansa said the Hospital authorities were reluctant to give medication monthly for fear of improper storage at home and resultant reduction in efficacy.
