Lee Ocran appeals to NADMO to provide food for fishermen

Accra, Oct. 27, GNA – Mr Lee Ocran, Founder of the Lee Ocran Foundation, on Monday appealed to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to provide food items for the fisher folks along the coast of Jomoro.

Making the appeal through a release issued in Accra, he said the fishermen have for the past three months not been able to go to sea because of the re-appearance of algae bloom, locally called “green-green” in the sea.

According to the statement, the algae bloom destroys the fishing nets of the fishermen anytime they went to sea.

The statement noted that there were more green substances entering the Juen Lagoon, another fishing ground in the District.

Mr Lee also appealed the Ministry of Environment and Science and the Environmental Protection Agency to find a lasting solution to the algae bloom problem, which whenever it appeared disrupted economic activities in the District.
