Lecture on effect of “Sakawa” held in Winneba

Winneba, June 15, GNA – A lecturer at the Psychology Department of the University of Education, Winneba, Rev. Eldda Bonney, has said if youngsters are directed to understand life and the fear of God inculcated into them they would exercise restraint in the way they seek money.

Rev. Bonney said this at a lecture organised by the Church of Christ in Winneba on Saturday on how best the youth could be educated to desist from negative things and such as internet fraud “Sakawa.”. Speaking on the theme “fighting Sakawa menace, the role of the church” Rev. Bonney called for the establishment of regional and district youth counselling centres.

He suggested there must be education and supervision in the in the use of the internet facilities particularly by the youth. Rev. Bonney also suggested that needy students be assisted by government, non-governmental organisations. He said the quest for quick money among by the youth was disheartening and has become a major concern for the country. “If proper measures are not put in place the youth who are the future leaders of this country would be wiped off”. 15 June 09
