Leader of World Without Wars to visit Ghana

Accra, July 14, GNA – Mr Tony Robinson, International Relations Director of World Without Wars, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), which aims at raising awareness about the endorsement of non-aggression treaties, would visit Ghana on July 17 to July 22.

Mr Robinson who is travelling throughout the world to launch “The World March for Peace”, which would take place in New Zealand on October 2, in commemoration of the International Day of Non- violence is expected to pay a courtesy call on President John Evans Atta Mills. He would also call on the Speaker of Parliament, the Chief Justice, and the two former head of states, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings and Mr John Agyekum Kufuor and the Ga Mantse.

A statement signed by Mr Ben Annan, National Executive Director of the NGO, said the march was an effort to unite the world through non-violence means and the eradication of nuclear weapons and resolution of conflicts.

It said the march had gained support worldwide as a number of Nobel Peace Prize winners, head of states and thousands of organisations had endorsed it.

The statement said an international team of marchers would be crossing the planet, calling for the end of wars, nuclear arms and all forms of violence.

“Simultaneously, the march will be accompanied by unprecedented social mobilisation in more than 100 countries on the six continents where marches, festivals, exhibitions, concerts, forums. will be taking place.” The statement said the march would end in the Andes mountains of Argentina on January 2, 2010. 14 July 09
