Accra, Jan. 23, GNA – Lawyers of the Former Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Ms Eva Lokko on Tuesday protested to the Chief Registrar of the High Court over the break into her office to take inventory.
A letter to the Chief Registrar of High Court issued by Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa and Ankomah, a copy of which was made available to the GNA, said the office of Ms Lokko was broken into on a date and time unilaterally set by the Defendants and not agreed to by the Plaintiff. It said this action was in “clear breach of the terms that the Honourable Court ordered when it granted the Plaintiff’s request for the inventory”.
The statement said: “These actions involving all manner of unauthorized participants and a corps of media personnel effectively and irreparably destroyed the integrity of documents and items in the plaintiff’s office, which the Honourable Court’s order for an inventory was expressly designed to protect.
“This notwithstanding, we request that a date and time convenient for both parties be set and a proper inventory taken as originally ordered by the Court without any unauthorised participants including the media and members of the GBC Local union.”
The statement said Ms Lokko’s office was broken into to take the inventory in the presence of only one of the parties despite clear statements by Ms Lokko’s Defence Team that the date and time chosen were not convenient.
“We take a serious view of what occurred at GBC on 11th January, 2007 and we humbly pray that our request is treated with the urgency it deserved. We also request that you bring these to the attention of the Judge,” the statement said.
