Lawra/Nandom MP disburses 161.5 million cedis

Lawra, Oct. 12, GNA – Dr Benjamin Kunbuor, Member of Parliament for Lawra/Nandom has so far disbursed a total of 161.5 cedis from his share of the MP’s common fund to a number of communities and institutions over the past two-and-half years.

Dr Kunbuor made this known when he addressed this year’s Kob-bine festival of the chiefs and people of the Lawra Traditional Area on Saturday.

“Kob-bine festival is celebrated to mark the beginning of harvesting by the chiefs and people of the Lawra traditional area. Dr Kunbuor said the fund had been disbursed to the health and educational sectors, identified by the Lawra District Assembly as the two most important areas of development activity.

He said to date, he had made available 70 million cedis to the District Assembly to procure a number of items for distribution to some deprived communities for rehabilitation, renovation and provision of furniture in a number of schools.

The MP identified some of the schools, which needed urgent attention in the Lawra Traditional area as Tanchare/Kunyukuo Primary School, Babile L/A Primary School and Kalsagri Junior Secondary School.

The MP also supported and contributed to a number of educational funds in the Lawra and Nandom traditional areas with a total amount of 4.5 million cedis from the fund.

Also he provided three million cedis each to the Nandom and Lawra Hospitals for the purchase of bedding for the wards. In addition he also made available 20 million cedis for the purchase of dual desks to be distributed to needy schools in the district.

Dr Kunbuor added that a further 10 million cedis was provided for the Moslem community at Lawra for the completion of a junior secondary school block.
