Lawra/Nandom MP advises constituents

Lawra, April 23, GNA – Dr Benjamin Kunbuor, the Member of Parliament for Lawra/Nandom, has advised supporters of political parties in the constituency that they were in “political off-season” and they should therefore devote their time and energies towards the development of the district.

He said this during rallies he organized in the constituency to thank the people for the support during the last elections. The “Thank You” rallies covered all the eight zones of the constituency comprising, Lawra, Eremon, Zambo, Babile, Nandom, Puffien, Baseble and Ko.

He reminded the people about the poverty and deprivation in the district and appealed to the government and other development partners in and outside the region to make their modest interventions towards reducing poverty in the area.

He said his “A Desk for Every School Child in the District by 2007” programme was still on course and would be pursued vigorously. The MP said 150 million cedis from both the GETFUND and his share of the Common Fund was used for that project.

Dr Kunbuor visited the Lawra market that was recently destroyed by fire to see the extent of damage and to console the victims. He has also authorized 10 million cedis from his share of the Common Fund to be given to the Goziiri community in Nandom to assist them to complete their school project. 23 April 05
