Law firm donates to orphanage

Blavo and Co Solicitors, a law firm in the United Kingdom, has presented a cheque for 8,000 pounds to the Baptist School Complex and Orphanage (BAPSCO).

The donation started in 2010 and the amounts are raised from the firm, staff and clients of the firm.

Mr John Blavo, the Chief Executive Officer, said the amount had been increasing over the past three years and this showed the commitment of staff and clients to better the lives of the orphans.

He said thedonation also raised the awareness of people about orphans and the needy in society.

Rev Victor Ofori Asamoah, Founder of BAPSCO, said the school started 17 years ago in a bush with the children sitting under trees but with the support of Blavo and Co Solicitors, the school had been transformed and the standard of the orphanage raised.

The said the orphanage still faced challenges and these include means of transport asnd classrooms.

Rev Asamoah said orphanage had 125 children, the youngest four years and the oldest 25. Six of them are in the tertiary institutions, the rest from kindergarten to junior high schools.
