A Human Rights Court has thrown out an application to stop the law school entrance examination scheduled to take place on Friday, July 14 making it obligatory that the students take the paper.
Eleven LLB graduates filed the application urging the court to stop the examination based on a Supreme Court ruling on June 22 which declared the examination unconstitutional.
Lawyer for the Applicants, Kwaku Asare argued that allowing the examination to take place would mean that the General Legal Council has conducted an illegal act which violates the 1992 constitution of Ghana.
Lead lawyer for the General Legal Counsel, Kisito Beyou, on the other hand insisted that the seven-member Supreme Court panel presided over by Justice Jones Dotse in June 22 that declared the exam unconstitutional, gave specific consequential orders that gave legitimacy to the conduct of the July 14, 2017 entry examination.
The court, presided over by Justice Anthony Yeboah said the applicants have not demonstrated that they have anything to lose if the examination takes place as scheduled, hence the dismissal of the case.
