Launch of the Accra Diplomatic Club

On Friday June 17, 2011, the Accra Diplomatic Club was launched at Labadi Beach Hotel at a
reception sponsored by Club Gold.
The creation of Accra Diplomatic Club is an initiative of a group of diplomats from Missions of
various countries, in partnership with , the website of Ghana’s expatriate community.
This initiative will bring more interaction between the members of the large diplomatic
community in Ghana as well as with the diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional
Integration, at a time when Ghana and its capital have become a reference. The Accra Diplomatic
Club will bring to Accra, a Millennium City, a new set of activities and recognition that matches
those of major international cities.
The main objectives of the Accra Diplomatic Club (ADC) are to:
– provide a privileged meeting venue by which a sense of common professional identity and
collegiality may be developed and ties/links between the Missions and the diplomats be
strengthened,
– maintain a calendar of regular events to give expression to this sense and to foster social
relations,
– encourage the sharing and use of the specialized knowledge, experience and background of
diplomats posted in Ghana,
– assist in the integration of diplomats in Ghana.

The Accra Diplomatic Club will propose social and professional events on a regular, irregular and
annual basis. It will comprise a Spouses/partners Circle and a Welcome Network. Hosted on
, the Club’s website will also propose the following sections: Forum, News, Articles,
Opinions and Services.
The Diplomatic Corps in Ghana has an estimated 750 Members, plus spouses and partners, from
53 Embassies and High Commissions, over 25 bilateral cooperation agencies and international
organizations and 16 Honorary Consulates. lub logo
