Latter Day Saints church organizes Blood Donation

The Takoradi branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, has organized a blood donation exercise as a humanitarian service to save lives.

Mr Richard Osei, President of the Takoradi stake of the church said members had taken upon themselves to organize the blood donation every first day of January and July, which are public holidays.

Mr. Osei said, the church had supported the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital over the years, because it is a referral centre, and hoped to extend the gesture to other district health facilities.

Mr Emil Anornu, Senior Blood Donor at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, who supervised the exercise, said blood continued to be essential in saving lives, and therefore appealed to people to make regular donations.

Mr Anornu encouraged corporate bodies to organise regular blood donation exercises, to help the blood bank store enough blood.
