Late President Mills to be awarded posthumously

Former First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills, will leave Accra on Saturday for the United States of America, to receive an award to be presented posthumously to late President John Evans Atta Mills.

The honour is in recognition of late President Mills’ exemplary leadership and support in advancing education in Ghana.

A statement from Office of the President, copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Accra, said: “the award will be presented by the International Institute of Education (IIE) at a ceremony in New York in recognition of his exemplary leadership that increased cooperation and understanding between Ghana and the world, and his resolute support for advancing education in Ghana”.

It said the award is also in honour of the late President as the first ever Full-bright Scholar to become President of Ghana.

The statement said Dr. Mrs. Naadu Mills would return home on Thursday September 21, 2012.
