A security analyst has tasked the government of Ghana to beef up the screening of expatriates who come into the country on order to reduce the rate at which foreigners are engaging in armed robbery in Ghana.
Two policemen were Thursday shot by unknown gun men in Lapaz around Las Palmas food Restaurant in Accra.
Unofficial reports indicate that one of the armed men is a Nigerian.
Security analyst Cephas Asumadu, in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive mentioned that people who troop into the country should be screened and accurate reasons and purpose of visit should be provided by these expatriates.
“We have to start screening the kind of people that come into the country. It is now up to the border authorities to carry out such screening to prevent similar developments from recurring.”
Mr. Cephas attributed the involvement of Ghanaians in acts of robbery to the increasing unemployment situation in the country and the frustrations of life they go through.
He further called on the populace to allay their fears as the police are resolute and bent on ensuring the safety, peace and security of the citizenry.
