Landlords hampering sanitation at Asamankese

Asamankese, Dec. 21, GNA – The Asamankese Urban Council has called for the co-operation landlords to clear garbage to improve sanitation in the township to avoid epidemics.

Mr Ofosu Boafo, Chairman of the Council speaking at a meeting said the Council was finding it difficult to find space for refuse containers provided by the District Assembly because of certain people were not cooperating.

He said some of the people claiming sanitary sites had even threatened court action against the District Assembly, the Urban Council and the Chief of Asamankese.

Mr Boafo said this had resulted in the indiscriminate dumping of rubbish in the Anyinasu stream, which ran through Asamankese and River Abuchen, the main source of drinking water for the township. He said the Council had secured streetlights, which would be installed as soon as funds were made available.
