Land released for expansion of ministries in Kumasi

Accra, Nov. 20, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor has given executive approval for land for the expansion of the Ministries in Kumasi.

The site at Danyame in Kumasi being re-allocated for the expansion of the Ministries in Ashanti Region was originally acquired by Government under the Kumasi Lands Ordinance (KLO) of 1943, and was covered by a Letter of Authority dated 22nd February, 1955 to the Commander, Gold Coast Regiment for Military Area Extension.

A statement issued in Accra by the Ministry of Lands, Forestry and Mines said the sector minister Ms Esther Obeng Dappah, who made the announcement during an encounter with the press, said the directive was intended to provide land to accommodate several offices.

These include the Ghana Immigration Service, Land Administration Project, Institute of Chartered Accountants, Controller and Accountant-General’s Department, GetFund Library and the College of Physicians and Surgeons Library.

Mrs Obeng Dappah described the revocation as a further illustration of government’s commitment to the optimal utilization of land and forge trust between the state and the people.
