Land Lords in Court for failing to pay property rates

Awutu (C/R), Oct. 28, GNA – Awutu Magistrates Court on Wednesday imposed a fine of GH¢200 each on two Landlords for failing to pay their property rates to the Awutu Senya District Assembly.

Otu Nartey and Godwin Kwame who pleaded guilty would in default be jailed three months each in hard labour.

Nartey is owing GH¢37 property rate and Kwame GH¢35. Prosecuting, Mr Lawrence Isaac Bewu, Environmental Health Officer told the court presided over by Mr Osei Darko, that during the Assembly’s funds mobilisation last year and this year, the convicts were served notices to pay their property rates but they refused to do so.
