Lack of vision after Nkrumah ‘appalling’ – Christian Council

The Christian Council of Ghana has described as appalling the lack of vision on the part of leadership in Ghana since the overthrow of first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The council said Ghana has, since that time, only been plagued with political polarization, a situation the Council believes has stunted Ghana’s growth in many ways.

General Secretary of the council, Reverend Dr. Kwabena Opuni Frimpong in an interview with XYZ News said the polarization must be tackled before Ghana turns 60 in three years from now.

Reverent Opuni added that the government and the largest opposition party must lead that effort.

“After the overthrow of President Nkrumah, we started widening the gap and seeing ourselves as a nation that cannot agree on anything”.

Rev. Dr. Opuni added that “we have political independence which must lead us to economic independence but we can’t do it with the current polarization…at the moment the polarization is entering almost every institution in our country; it is in the judiciary, media, civil service, traditional leadership and even in religion and it is a real threat”.
