Lack of maternity ward hampering work at Nyinahin Hospital

Nyinahin (Ash), Aug 4, GNA – The lack of certain facilities, especially a maternity ward at the Nyinahin Government Hospital in the Atwima District is hampering effective work there. Dr Yusif Adamu Alhassan, Senior Medical Officer in-charge of the Hospital, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency, said the lack of a maternity ward was seriously affecting reproductive health care delivery.

He said work on the maternity block which started some years ago, had been abandoned.

Dr Yusif said because the Hospital had not been fenced, thieves had been breaking into the units and taking away valuable and critical equipment and that the latest to suffer such break-ins was the laboratory.

He said a number of departments of the hospital were being housed within the administrative block due to the lack of permanent accommodation.

Dr Yusif, therefore, appealed to the Ministry of Health to come to the aid of the Hospital.
