Lack of funds is affecting work of NFED-Regional Coordinator

Sekondi, March 25, GNA – The Non-Formal Education Division (NFED) has not received funds from the government for its activities for almost one year, Mr. Sam Awotwi, Western Regional Coordinator of the Division, said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the first quarterly meeting of the district coordinators of NFED in the Region at Sekondi, he said newly employed staff of the Division had also not been paid for about eight months, adding funds are needed to implement the third phase of NFED. Mr. Awotwi, who was reacting to complaints of lack of funds from the district coordinators, said the NFED head office was doing its best to secure funds from government to resource district offices to effectively carry out their functions. He said this is affecting the work of the Division as district coordinator s have to rely on their financial resources for operational expenses. Mr. Awotwi said some NFED supervisors are not doing their work although they are being paid and district coordinators have no funds to buy fuel for their vehicles and motor bikes to monitor the supervisors. 25 March 10
