Labourer to stand trial for defilement

Assin-Fosu (C/R), July 8, GNA – A 30-year-old labourer from Assin Bereku, Kwame Gullah, who allegedly defiled a 14-year-old girl resulting in her impregnation was on Thursday remanded by the Fosu District Magistrate Court.

His plea was not taken and he was remanded in prison custody, pending his committal at a circuit court in Cape Coast.

Prosecuting, police Chief Inspector, Joshua Bekoe told the court presided over by Mr Joseph Blay that, the accused allegedly abused the victim sexually on three occasions in September, October and in December, when the girl’s guardian caught him in the act with her. He said Gullah was arrested when a report was made to the police while, a medical report later issued by the Fosu Hospital indicated that the girl was six months pregnant.
