A 28-year-old labourer, a member of a robbery gang who allegedly robbed two people in separate incidents with knives and a pistol, has been remanded into prison custody by a Kumasi Circuit Court.
Farouk Anyas pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and robbery and would come back to court on March 14.
His two accomplices are on the run.
Police Inspector Gulliver Tenkorang told the Court presided over by Justice William Boampong that the first complainant, Aliu Raman, is a corn miller whilst second complainant, Akwasi Appiah is a mason.
He explained that on February 22, this year, at about 0200hours, Raman had arrived from Aflao to Dr Mensah in Kumasi and was looking for a taxi to Tafo where he resides, when the three emerged from a dark place and at gun and knife point, he was ordered to surrender all his belongings and his GH¢15.00 and two mobile phones.
Inspector Tenkorang said thirty minutes later, they also robbed Appiah, who had then also returned from a journey and took away his travelling bag containing his personal effect, a tin of sardine and one phone charger.
He said Appiah mustered courage and organized support from by-passers who gave the gang a hot chase and arrested Anyas whiles the others escaped.
