Labour concerns are solvable – Expert

A Labour Consultant, Austin Gamey, has called for a truce between government and Organised Labour over the strike action embarked upon by the latter.

The strike was declared last Tuesday, October 21 and so far no attempts have been by the two parties to have the disagreement resolved.

Organised Labour is protesting the “mismanagement” of the second-tier scheme under the new pensions act by government.

Speaking on TV3’s Midday Live on Friday, October 24, Mr Gamey said government should not have taken a unilateral decision to appoint a fund manager for the workers contribution.

The appointment should have been done with the consensus of workers, he suggested.

He recommended that an arbitrator should be appointed to find a resolution to the impasseas it is solvable, he says
