La Mantse charges churches to preach on value of education

Accra, April 15, GNA – Nii Kpobi Tettey-Tsuru III, La Mantse, has charged religious bodies, especially churches in the area to use their platforms to preach to parents and guardians not to neglect the education of their children.

He said Churches have a responsibility in making sure that parents and guardians conformed to their expected roles, especially when it came to educating their children in the society.

“Education is my passion and as the chief of La I will ensure that children in La see education as the only means through, which they can contribute meaningfully to their development and community,” Nii Tettey-Tsuru said.

He was speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony on Friday at La for the construction of an 18-unit three-storey classroom block with funds from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) for pupils of the Labone Primary School.

Nii Amasah Namoale, the Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, assisted by the La Mantse, and the La District Minister of the Presbyterian Church, Reverend I.T Sackey, cut the sod to begin the construction of the project, which is expected to be completed in 15 months.

Nii Tettey-Tsuru III said 93education is the bedrock upon which a nation or community is developed,” and indicated that if the Churches joined to champion this cause in La, the impact would be most beneficial to all in the area.

He said even though there was free basic education with other interventions such as Capitation Grant, free exercise books and school feeding programme, a lot more needed to be done especially on the part of parents to help to improve the situation better.
