Kwasi Quartey replaces Atuguba; Valerie Sawyerr named senior policy adviser

Ambassador Thomas Kwasi Quartey has been named the new Secretary to the President. His appointment, according to a statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, takes immediate effect.

President John Dramani Mahama has also appointed Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, as Senior Policy Adviser and Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit.

In her new role, Dr. Sawyerr, a lawyer by profession, will be responsible for tracking the execution of all Government policies, projects and programmes and ensure the fulfillment of the President’s social contract with the people of Ghana.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah explained that: “The newly created Presidential Delivery Unit will ensure the timely execution of projects envisaged by the President and Government.”

Dr. Sawyerr’s immediate task is to monitor and evaluate the timelines set by the power sector with the view to ameliorating the effects of the current power supply shortfall.
