Kwame Dzokoto fails to annex Tarkwa Nsuaem seat for NDC

Actor Seth Kwame Dzokoto has succumbed to defeat in the keenly contested parliamentary election in the Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency held on Wednesday.

Kwame Dzokoto who stood on the ticket of the governing National Democratic Congress polled 24,044 votes. Though the popular TV personality had more votes than his presidential candidate John Mahama (23,379), it was not enough to beat his contender from the New Patriotic Party.

George Mireku Duker of the NPP gathered a maximum of 42,594 votes in the simply majority election to secure the only slot for the Tarkwa Nsuaem.

Progressive People’s Party’s Eric Seedof Asiedu Simpey managed 1,624 votes whilst, the Convention People’s Party’s Kwakye John Justice had 206 votes
The opposition NPP has held on to this seat since 2000.

In the presidential contest, Nana Akufo-Addo of the NPP led by 42,850 votes followed by President John Mahama who had 23,379 and Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom of PPP securing 1,865.
