Kwakwaduam Association of NY donates to the Akropong Clinic

The Kwakwaduam Association Inc of New York has donated medical supplies valued about $7,500 dollars to the Akropong Akwapim Clinic to support the midwifery services at the clinic and to facilitate their work. The items donated included glucometers, chemstrips, gloves, gauze, under garments, EDC calculators and delivery units among others.

In receiving the items the Mr. Solomon Matey, the Chief Physician Assistant, expressed extreme gratitude to Kwakwaduam Association Inc and said the items will go a long way in improving the quality of service provided to patients. He said the midwifery services at the clinic have grown steadily and that the clinic does about 80 deliveries per month. He said through the excellent services at the clinic maternal morbidity and mortality is minimal. He indicated that he was cognizant of the support Kwakwaduam Association has given to the clinic in the past which included a shuttle bus which has been critical to the referral of sick patient for further care and taking patient to and from the clinic. He said other donations included a sonogram machine and other medical supplies. He said other areas of need included the building staff quarters, a 30 seater bus and laboratory equipment to further the work of the Clinic and suggested Kwakwaduam Associaiton Inc should consider these.

Dr. Alex Aniapam Boafo, President of Kwakwaduam Association in his remarks reiterated the commitment of the Organization to community development and pledged continued logistic for the clinic. Mr. Paul Ansah, the Deputy Secretary of Kwakwaduam Association Inc on his part indicated his hope that the items will be put to use for the advantage of the patients

The Kwakwaduam Association Inc is a Kwakwaduam is a community based Non-Profit Organization whose mission is to organize activities to enhance the socio-economic, educational, health, cultural and financial aspects of its members and the community and to extend the community and to extend the same to Ghana and Africa in general.
