Kwahuman Association of New York presents items to orphanage

Obomeng (E/R), Jan. 13, GNA – Members of the Okwahuman Association of New York, made up of Kwahu Citizens in the USA, have donated items worth GHC 800 to the Tomo-Ni orphanage at Obomeng. The items included two bags of rice, a bag of sugar, cartons of milk, cooking oil, toiletries and biscuits.

Presenting the items the Secretary of the association, Mr James Asare, said the donation was sponsored by the President of the Association, Mr Fredric Ansong Dwamena and Mrs Dr Grace Asiamah, a member of the association.

He said the association would continue to donate to the Home to improve the living standard of the children in the orphanage. Receiving the items the Manager of the Mome, Mr Eben Schneider, said the orphanage was established by a German six years ago in Accra but was later moved to the Kwahu area. He said the home depended on local and foreign donations to operate as the founder is now old and on pension who could not raise adequate funds to run it.

The Manager said the orphanage with 17 children had cultivated a one-and-half-acre citrus farm, two acres of oil palm and a poultry farm with 741 birds.
