It was all joy and merry making when members ofKwahuman Association of Brescia-Italy an affiliate of Kwahuman Association of Italy and Kwahuman Europe,the mother of all Kwahuman Associations in the diaspora,came together for their end-of-year party in Brescia at via Eustachio 8, on 27th December2009.
The party,the second of it’s kind in Brescia by this young Association,brought together other members of the Kwahu community from neighbouring cities like Parma,Verona,Modena and Vicenza.
The occasion started with prayers by Elder Francis Bazie of the church of Pentecost,Ghedi branch.He prayed for blessings for the Kwahu and Ghanaian community in Italy. In his Opening Address,the General secretary Mr David Forson aka Kwabena Asante asked the Kwahu and Ghanaian community at the Party not to consider Italy as their Permanent home,reminding members of the Association of the aims and objectives of the Association- to embark on developmental projects back home on the “Odweanoma” mountains.He further exhorted the members to work hard and study the Italians in various trades,to be able to establish small scale industries back home to provide job opportunities for our folks back home.He stressed his point by citing an example in the Bible – of the Israelites and particularly of Joseph and his brothers.He further advised the youth amongst the large audience to take their studies seriously and refrain from behaviours that will tarnish the image of the Ghanaian community in general.He concluded by advising Parents to take keen interest in the education of their Kids.
Miss Martha Owiredua who is the “Mother” of the Association,on her part advised the ladies of the association to love their husbands and encouraged the spinsters amongst members to seek partners within the Kwahu community.She commended the women for the preparation of meals for the occasion. In her vote of thanks, Miss Betty Afua Bondzie,thanked the Executives for Organizing the party, by bringing together both members and non-members of the Kwahu community.The biggest appreciation went to the general public who spent some time out of their tight schedule to attend the party.
